Spring Gully Farm

We were not farmers when we bought our property and bought the animals on the place to teach us to farm. Since then we have focused on soil health and farming practices to enhance our soil. Our climate conditions are different from others around us. As I type, our nearest town has had 300mm of rain in 24 hours while we have had 5mm. The path we are on is starting to show results as we are still green and growing feed even though conditions are not ideal. We find the journey sometimes challenging but also extremely rewarding.

Knowing paddock sizes and fence lengths has become so much easier to determine with Phoenix mapping. It allows me to better plan material purchases (fencing and seed), knowing how much fertiliser to apply. The weather section allows me to succinctly work out monthly and yearly averages while the charts easily show trends over time. We have a better understanding of when to attempt projects and whether changes to our pastures are a result of work we are doing, the weather or both.
