Eastwell Farms is a paddock to plate, chemical free, beef producer located in Kin Kin, in the Noosa Hinterland, Queensland. We are a regenerative grazing operation that practices rotational grazing, moving our cattle daily – sometimes twice a day. We have a deep respect for the land, nature, our own health, and the future of food production for generations to come. This has also led us to host informative field days and conferences each year, bringing together like-minded people in the farming and health space.
We currently run 380 head of Nguni cattle – a breed chosen not for their colour, but for their suitability to the challenges we face with our climate and high parasite numbers in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Originally from Africa, Nguni cattle are better suited to withstand our hot Australian sun and are naturally resistant to parasites such as ticks. This resistance is highly beneficial, as it eliminates the need for regular chemical dips, which are commonly required for other cattle breeds in Australian livestock farming.
Our operation faces the same challenges as most businesses. One of the biggest hurdles we encounter is the limited yield potential due to our small landholding. However, having a good accounting program like Phoenix Financials makes it easier to keep the business on track. The simplicity of data entry – particularly with bank linking and the ability to auto-fill from previous entries – saves us a significant amount of time and effort.
Additionally, the Phoenix Livestock module has been invaluable for maintaining individual animal records and tracking our grazing history with the Grazing Charts.
