I have used Xero, a program marketed as easy to use and found that it is overpriced, limited in capability, and has issues with some basic functions such as preparing BAS. I use Quick books for another business as it is cheap, however in doing so I lament the fact that it is very quirky and not intuitive to operate. As a program designed specifically for agriculture, Phoenix does as much as possible to reduce the time taken and to simplify the tasks.

Phoenix Cropping is the standout and vital part of the program for us. We use it to track our irrigation events, water usage, maintenance and chemical use when required. We really like the ability to add information about our weed control in the paddock and tracking events in the truffière such as irrigation, maintenance, water usage, chemical usage when required and harvest production.

Across the season doing the same thing at the same time is really important for us – being able to track the opening of the irrigation season, pruning, harvest times and amounts. The program can track by each tree; however, we currently only track row by row. The fact that Phoenix Cropping allows us to do that so we can tell what’s happening with trees in a particular row, is fantastic.

Since taking over our challenge has been understanding our livestock numbers, controlling livestock changes and movements. They are continually changing (due to seasonal conditions) and they are also the first item that is requested from Banks, Accountants, Consultants, etc. Phoenix Budgets are user friendly and I love the easy way that the ‘actuals’ can be input after adding them into the ‘financials’ system. It makes it easy to compare actuals vs budget. Another benefit of Phoenix is the livestock system. Extremely easy to use, navigate and pull reports when you have an inquiry about stock numbers, etc.

We need to have access to up-to-date financial data in a format that is easy to interpret. Phoenix provides this in a program which specifically focuses on Agriculture. It is intuitive, current and it really helps us make informed financial decisions for our business.
