The Peart Family
We operate an organically certified rotational grazing enterprise that is also EU, LPA and Global Animal Partnerships (GAP) accredited. The auditing that our business is subjected to is stringent and is only getting more significant as more emphasis is put on animal health/welfare and as consumer interest in the providence of their food grows. This, coupled with the record keeping required to effectively manage a relatively intensive rotational grazing system where cattle can be moved anywhere between 4 hours and 3 days has seen the evolution of Phoenix fit alongside our own business as it has developed and become a vital tool to support our operation. We have upgraded to Phoenix Live as our business succession has seen the younger generation join the business.
Grazing charts, mob movements, animal health treatments, supplementary feeding history, individual animal lifetime history, financials and HR are now all managed by key people across the business.
We recently had an audit, the first since upgrading to Phoenix Live. We had been chatting to the auditor about how we had implemented Phoenix Live and its capabilities. On hearing this, the auditor asked to see the life history of an animal picked at random from a feedback sheet in our records.
Previously we had relied on mob-based records over a number of different sources – Phoenix, spreadsheets, diary entries, treatment logs etc – this was the first time we had been asked for the life history of a specific animal. We brought the animal’s record up in a report detailing all their paddock movements, health treatments and the supplement they had been fed over their lifetime.
The auditor was very pleased to receive such a concise report with all the information they required and we passed the audit!
