Fred and I (Cath) own Euthulla Holdings and have been using Phoenix for over 17 years. Our property is 2300ha in size and we run 400 head of cattle. Some of our key challenges that we face include:
- Physically – the difference is our relative size considering our proximity to the Roma Sale yards.
- Culturally – in the last 6 months we have left jobs in Brisbane to take over the business as the fourth generation. We believe that applying technology and science to beef cattle production is critical to the business going to a fifth generation (our children).
Since taking over, our challenge has been understanding our livestock numbers, controlling livestock changes and movements. In conjunction with tagging (and scanning) all the cattle on the place, the livestock module has enabled us to accurately and visually track each animal and it’s individual history including treatments etc. Cattle are our most important asset, so understanding how many we have and being able to recall that on our phones at any time is very helpful.
